Hey
Im assuming by dec 2011 this has resolved in some way; but im a bit distressed at the pro life leap into the fray when the original poster was not asking for advice about whether to let the baby grow; she was clearly asking for advice on how to abort safely. I get that if you are pro life you feel you have the right/responsibility to persuade strangers to your point of view however lurking in this forum and pouncing on people in a vulnerable position is not morally sound in my personal opinion.
I dont think you were really listening to her question; you just saw a general thematic 'open' to your personal soapbox passion and took over the conversational space at what you saw as an opportunity to spread the word. I didnt like to read it. My response has nothing to do with the pro choice pro life debate but about respect and listening and responsible conversation.

original poster, I hope you got to where you had to go.

When I had my daughter I didn't actually go into labor. My membrane ruptured so they admitted me to the hospital. Unfortunately my cervix was completely unfavorable for birth so the midwife on call used a quarter of a pill of cytotec (which I had read about, immediately refused and then decided to trust her on) to soften things up, then followed that with cervadil later that night and then pitocin early the next morning. Everything turned out great. I know everyone's case is different, but I believe that the midwife knew what she was doing...but maybe I was just lucky?

I am a 47 year old woman and have been experiencing prolonged periods for about 6-8 months. I have had ultrasounds which shows some fibroids. I just a week ago had a d&c and biopsy done. I have not yet received results. I am stil spotting from having had the procedure. My period will also begin any day now which means, the blood flow will overlap the current spotting. I only have 1 week blood free per month. My doctor said I have a constricted cervix which my be slowing the release of blood flow during my periods.

I have my post surgery follow up next week, at which time diagnosis and treatment will be discussed.

I have been researching causes and treatments for a constricted cervix but have not resulted in anything that actually addresses my type of issue. I am just so tired of bleeding. Its stressing me out and I am having a hard time relaxing in any situation.

If anyone has any information that can assist me, I would greatly appreciate it.

How exactly is a full explanation of a medical procedure that effects or could effect your body, health, pregnancy status or life "something that doesnt matter"? I am not suggesting that the appropriate decisions weren't made. I am only pointing out that people wanting to know about their bodies and the details about treatments and treatment options as well as potential outcomes for themselves DOES matter and isnt a bad thing. People in general would be much healthier and more inclined to work With the medical community for their own health when they are empowered to do so and informed. Its Their body and experience. Obviously you cant make assumptions about what personal conditions someone's friend might have been experiencing to explain "my friend had to do this though" situations, however asking for more knowledge about the choices being made around their own health and the reasoning behind it is completely valid. IMO

I had that medication though my OB used it to prep me for an endometrial biopsy. Everything came out fine, though the cramps from the medication was rather annoying.

you have to remember that not every case is the same. we are all unique. she could have had one small factor that was not mentioned that required that. also there are more than one way to do just about anything medically just like math. as long as you get the same result, sometimes it doesn't matter. i always try to tell my patients when they start saying "my friend had to do this though..." every case is totally different. yea most factors may be the same, but you just don't know and a dr is not going to sit there and go through a huge medical explanation for something that doesn't matter much.
